E.A.G.L.E.S. Notebook
Your child’s E.A.G.L.E.S. Notebook will be sent home daily and should be checked daily since it will serve as our main form of communication between school and home. Please make sure to look through the notebook when it comes home on Monday and familiarize yourself with its contents.
Arrival and Dismissal
The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. every morning. Your child may come to the classroom as early as 8:00 a.m. It is very important that you get to school on time. Our day starts immediately at 8:30 a.m. Please make every effort to arrive at school promptly each day. If you do arrive late, please bring your child into the main office and sign them in before sending them to class.
School will dismiss at 3:00 p.m. each day. If your child will be going home a different way than normal, you must send a written note letting us know of the change or call the school office. If we do not receive a note your child will go home as normal.
Please remember that when your child is absent you have three (3) days to send in a written excuse with the date of the absence(s), reason for the absence, and parent signature.
Homework
Homework will be sent home starting Monday. The homework assignments will be sent home in your child’s E.A.G.L.E.S. notebook each Monday and will be due on Fridays. Homework is a review of the material being taught in class and should take no more than 30 minutes each night.
Snack
We will have snack time every afternoon. Please send a healthy snack (fruit, veggies, cheese, etc.) for your child. Juice boxes or water bottles are fine as well. With the scheduling this year snack will be eaten outside during the first part of our recess.
Lunch
The children look forward to having lunch with their parents. This year we will eat lunch from 11:20 -11:45. When having lunch with your child, please sign in at the front office and meet us in the hallway by the cafeteria. Your child is allowed to invite one friend from the class to eat lunch with them. There is a table in the cafeteria reserved for students and their parents.
Visitors
When visiting the classroom during school hours, please sign in with the office. You will need to have a visitor’s pass to walk down the halls. Also, please have one of the receptionists announce your visit. It is disruptive for the students when visitor’s walk in unannounced.
Field Trips
Field trips have not been scheduled for the 2019 - 2020 school year. The permission forms and information about each field trip will be sent home as soon as it becomes available. If you have an interest in being a chaperone, you must register with Wake County Public Schools as a Level 4 volunteer. This process takes a few minutes and it must be completed on a school computer. Only parents that are registered with Wake County schools as a chaperone will be allowed to attend field trips. If you registered last year, you must register again for this school year. It takes several weeks for it to process, so it would be a good idea to do this at the beginning of the school year. The system is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Behavior Plan
Please read over the information in your packet regarding the Behavior Plan for our school and my classroom. The students will begin earning pebbles the first day of school.
Curriculum Night (Parent night)
Curriculum night is scheduled for TBA. We will be discussing the first grade curriculum, classroom expectations, field trips, and daily procedures.
Class Website
Please visit our class website frequently. I will be posting pictures of class activities, every three weeks newsletters, parent resources, and educational websites.
